Won over Real Madrid being one of Messi’s favorite moments
Lionel Messi has succeeded in fulfilling his Ballon d’Or collection to 6 trophies today, after securing the final trophy of this year’s edition in Paris. Obviously, this is one of the best moments in the Argentine’s career. Are there any other favorite moments?
Messi himself has started his career at a professional level since 2005. Since then, the Argentine national has experienced many neat moments in his career. Starting from Sextuples in 2009, Treble winners in 2015, Ballon d’Or fifth in 2015, and many more.
Of course, the moment where he won the sixth Ballon d’Or this year was one of his favorite moments. The trophy was quite memorable because Messi became an athlete with the most Ballon d’Or titles in history. He managed to beat his personal rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, who just stopped at number 5 so far.
Recently, FourFourTwo interviewed the player nicknamed the La Pulga, asking about the mega star’s favorite moments throughout his career as a player. In total there were 14 of the best moments in Messi’s career, and apparently one of them was the moment when successfully beaten Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu in 2009.
Precisely on May 2, 2009, Madrid and Barcelona faced each other at the Santiago Bernabeu, and won the visitors with a landslide score of 2-6.
“It was a very special night, seeing how we won at the Bernabeu. I played in a new position – false nine. That is the plan that Pep Guardiola came up with especially for this match with the aim that we could play more effectively.”
“Before the match, we talked a lot about our plans, so we were very happy, because everything was going well. The big game could go a different way, and I was in a game where we conceded four goals from Real and in other matches, we managed to score six goals against them. ”
“Overall, the team showed a fantastic performance at that time. I’m not sure if it was the best, but certainly it is a game that we always remember and celebrate.” So Messi told reporters.
