No doubt the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the vital figures in Real Madrid’s success over the past 9 years, especially when the Spanish La Liga club won 4 European Champions League trophies. Unfortunately, Los Blancos lost the Portuguese mega-star in the summer transfer window this year, where the concerned chose to leave Juventus. Even so, the mainstay defender and Madrid captain, Sergio Ramos, judged that without Ronaldo, his team would still win the title.
Cristiano Ronaldo, 33, joined Real Madrid in the 2009 summer transfer window from Manchester United. Since arriving at the Santiago Bernabeu, the Portuguese player has immediately spearheaded the club’s mainstay, and for the past nine years, he has managed to lead the La Liga club to embrace a number of prestigious trophies, 4 of which are European Champions League titles in which 3 out of 4 are won streak in the last 3 seasons.
But, Ronaldo, who scored 450 goals in the last nine years in all competitions, surprisingly chose to leave the summer transfer market and chose to join the defending champion of Italian Serie A, Juventus. That way, it means that Real Madrid loses a goal machine that is often a differentiator on the pitch. But the Los Blancos captain, Sergio Ramos, still believes in the chances of his team to win the title at the end of the season without the presence of Ronado.
“I don’t think you will see much difference in the field. We have the same team, despite losing Cristiano, a very decisive player for us. We will compete with the same approach as the club always does. Winning is always our target.” Ramos told the official FIFA website.
The first title target is the Club World Cup which will be held starting in January 2019, of course Real Madrid will fight hard to maintain the trophy, especially before they failed to win the European Super Cup trophy against Atletico Madrid.
“The Club World Cup is a tribute to your success in the previous season. I give you the opportunity to confirm your position by becoming a world champion, and this is an amazing experience. We have some wonderful memories because we were successful on previous occasions. This is a short competition and there is no margin for error. There are semi-finals and direct finals, and we want to bring home the trophy.”
