Win the Champions League? Solskjaer: Manchester United know itself!
Manchester United tactician, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer spoke of his team’s chances of winning the European Champions League this season. The Norwegian coach is reluctant to have high expectations, because he knows very well the current capacity of Manchester United.
Actually, Manchester United’s performance is under the public spotlight, especially in the English Premier League.
Naturally, they appeared arbitrary, even last time being defeated by Arsenal at home. As a result of the 7 points collected in the first 6 matches this season, MU fell to 15th position in the Premier League standings.
However, the story looks in contrast to their journey in the European Champions League. In the last two matches, the Red Devils have successfully defeated Paris Saint-Germain and RB Leipzig, two teams that last season entered the semi-finals at the same event.
Even in the match against RB Leipzig, Manchester United managed to win 5-0. No wonder many consider Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad a candidate for the Champions League this season.
However, Solskjaer is reluctant to be tempted by this assumption, he knows himself about the strength of his team at this time.
“We know ourselves,” Solskjaer told the Manchester Evening News.
The man from Norway even admits that his current squad still has to find consistency. If not, it would be very difficult to win a title in any competition.
“We have to improve our consistency. If we can be consistent, we can beat any team.” He said.
The Manchester United players are now trying their hardest to be consistent like in the second half of last season which brought them to finish in 3rd place in the Premier League final standings.
“The main thing at this time we continue to work hard and try to improve our performance. Every day we train, we try to be more consistent.”
“Last season, we were able to finish third and play in the Champions League because we found consistency.” he said.
What is unique about Manchester United this season is that they can always win at home but it is difficult to win at home.
