No doubt with less than two weeks for the FIFA World Cup 2018, everyone is looking keenly at all the squads as to how each team would fare at the events. The event between the Egypt squad and the Russians will not be an exception in generating the enthusiasm among the football lovers.
After their participation in the finals of FIFA 1990, perhaps the Egypt team could not show their dominance at the World Cup. Probably, it is not an exaggeration that the squad could reach the qualifier slot only with a last-gasp penalty at the crucial time.
Though the country has replaced the coaches, we need to wait and watch how the present coach Hector Cuper can handle. Whether he will be able to bring the team to the last eight at least is a matter of curiosity.
Undoubtedly, the performance of Mohamed Salah is quite appreciable. Consequent upon his joining the Liverpool, his reputation as a star player has beyond Africa. He is one of the indispensable members of the team at FIFA 2018 for the country. Therefore, the talisman of the squad has to keep up the pressure under control and show his mettle at each clash.
The most senior player Essam El Hadary is an ace player between the poles. Similarly, the player with 122 caps is Ahmed Fathy is a dependable player for the squad. Probably, the return of the midfielder Shikabala after three years of absence also could show his talent on the field.
The debutant Amr Marey, who represents for Etoile Sahel in Tunisia has to prove his inclusion in the final team.
The football lovers would be missing Basem Morsy, who is under punishment after the incident during November 2016.
Though they qualified for the World Cup 2018 as the hosts, they need to prove their talent. The poor performance in the recent past at the major tournaments is a point of disappointment for them, which they should overcome.
The spearheading players from the Russian side would no doubt be Fyodor Smolov and another forward player Artem Dzyuba with his matured game.
With a view to injecting some talent into the weak team, the coach has made some sincere efforts including bringing back Fedor Kudryashov to defend the team from the onslaught from the rivals.
It will be interesting to watch whether the Russians would go beyond the advantage of hosts and the bandwagon rolling by showing their technical skill on the ground under the guidance of Stanislav Cherchesov.
