Panama is a small country, but they became popular across the football world by the way they performed at the Concacaf, on the way to qualify the world cup. This is their first at the world cup and certainly, they would want to make it a memorable one. They will be meeting in Belgium on 18th June 2018 at the Fisht Olympic stadium in the group G match.
On the other hand, Belgium is full of players who are the best, but their potential has not yet been tapped till now. They still have reached here with a 16 game unbeaten lineup. They have all the stuff to make a winning match, but there is no guarantee that they can put it all together.
Panama, unfortunately, does not have any star player. But one bankable player is the captain himself, Roman Torres, who plays as a defender. Since the past 8 years, the players have been more or less the same. Jaime Penedo is the goalkeeper, Felipe Baloy is a defender, midfielder Gabriel Gomez, Blas Perez, Armando Cooper, Luis Tejada form the backbone of the team.
The Panama squad already showed the world their hard work and determination. They need to keep their motivation intact in Russia so that they are able to cause some upsets in the tournament.
Belgium has the strongest team in the tournament, and they are strong contenders of the prestigious cup. The stars are Eden Hazard, the captain, and Kevin De Bruyne, the mysterious player who is yet to show his original form from the clubs.
There are a number of veterans in the team, including Romelu Lukaku, who is a frequent scorer. The others are midfielder Dries Mertens and defender Thomas Meunier. The keeper Thibaut Courtois is backed by defenders Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen.
The team has well-known and popular names. If they want to show the world how good they are at the game, then there is no better time than this. Even though Panama has managed to qualify, they did not perform well in their earlier friendly matches. Also, more than half of the players have visited any continent other than America, so getting to Russia and playing under the world cup conditions, might be a little overwhelming for them.
This could be the opportunity for Belgium to snatch and prove to themselves as well as the world, their true potential.
