Wenger believes Mbappe-Neymar will overtake the era of Messi-Ronaldo
Arsenal’s former tactician, Arsene Wenger believes the Messi-Ronaldo era will end soon. He also saw that a new generation was ready to replace the two phenomenal figures, they were Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi have dominated football for more than the past 10 years. This is evidenced by the many individual awards and extraordinary records that have been bagged by the two phenomenal players.
However, age is indeed the main ‘enemy’ of soccer players. Cristiano Ronaldo is 35 years old, while Messi will turn 33 soon.
At this age, both players should have shown a decline in performance, but not with Messi and Ronaldo. The first name was even able to win the Ballon d’Or award last year defeating Virgil Van Dijk.
For Wenger, there are no more players who can show glory like Messi and Ronaldo. Both of them always look amazing even under great pressure. But, a new generation will come soon.
“We have never seen players like them, who can certainly look creative in any tight situation. These two players, Ronaldo and Messi are nearing the end, but now it’s the next generation,” Wenger told talkSPORT.
Furthermore according to the former AS Monaco coach, the two ideal figures who will replace Messi and Ronaldo are Mbappe and Neymar. In addition there are some young British players who seem to begin to show a bright future.
“The next generation might be France. For now, the leading players that we know could be Mbappe and Neymar, but English players too, “said Wenger.
Wenger thinks the young English players currently look promising, even he hopes they can deliver the National Team to win the European Cup next year.
“At the moment England have a good chance, they performed very well at a young age. They performed beautifully with Gareth Southgate at the World Cup. I hope in the European Cup, they can become one of the title contenders, “he said.
