Vinales highly praises their bike, Ducati Sporting Director feel honored
Ducati Sporting Director, Paolo Ciabiatti admitted he was flattered by the praise given by Maverick Vinales to the Desmosedici which has been Ducati’s mainstay. He was sure, the Spanish rider would be very suitable for these mounts.
Maverick Vinales, 25, did indeed become the main target of Ducati in the early 2020s. The aim is to make the rider the spearhead of the Ducati Corse team for the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
However, in the end Vinales rejected the offer and agreed on a new contract with Yamaha. However, this man from Spain claimed to have considered the offer from Ducati, he was interested in joining the Italian manufacturer.
Because, Vinales claimed to be close to the current Ducati Team Manager, and they also have a good motorbike.
“My relationship is very good with Davide Tardozzi (Ducati Team Manager). It’s hard to choose a Yamaha or Ducati. Finally I chose Yamaha because I wanted to win the title. I don’t know if I can get a chance to do it in a team other than Yamaha.”
“I think Ducati is very strong. Apart from that, for my racing style, Ducati is very good. Their motorbikes are great, thanks to their aerodynamics. But our Yamaha is also very good, “said the 25-year-old rider.
Desmosedici is known as a very fast motorbike, but few riders can conquer it.
Responding to the rider’s praise, Paolo Ciabiatti as the Ducati Sporting Director claimed to be proud and flattered. About Desmodesici, Ducati had already predicted that the motorbike would match the racing style of Maverick Vinales.
“We also believe Maverick will perform well at Ducati, for this reason we are after him. I am glad he believes that there is a very good environment at Ducati and calls our motorbike competitive.”
“This is all thanks to Gigi and all our engineers. This compliment is very pleasant, especially if it comes from riders like Maverick, “he concluded.
Vinales became the mainstay of the Yamaha Monster Energy team this season, and he recorded good results in two pre-season trials last February. Unfortunately, Vinales had to postpone the action because of the suspension of the first 7 MotoGP Series this season.
