Van de Beek determined to follow in the success footsteps of the Dutch legend at MU
Manchester United midfielder Donny Van de Beek recently shared his determination to follow in the footsteps of Dutch legends in the club’s history.
As is known, the 23-year-old player is the Red Devils’ first recruit in the transfer market this summer. He was redeemed from Ajax Amsterdam with a pocket of no less than 40 million Euro.
Along with the high price tag, there were equally high expectations. Moreover, previously Van de Beek could be said to have performed brilliantly at Ajax in the last three years.
The player himself admitted that he had watched Manchester United since he was a boy.
“I used to watch United a lot when I was a kid,” Van de Beek told Inside United.
In other words, he is a Manchester United fan who has followed the club’s development for a long time.
The period when Manchester United in their childhood still had Dutch players who performed well. According to him, the Red Devils’ performance at that time was very entertaining.
“I like watching United because there are a lot of Dutch players playing here. As a little kid, it was great watching them play.” He said.
Indeed, there are several Dutch players who have had success at Manchester United, namely Edwin Van Der Sar and Robin Van Persie. Both of them have even tasted the Premier League title with the Red Devils.
Because of this, Van de Beek refused to be a player who just passed by Manchester United. He is determined to follow in the footsteps of the success of his predecessors.
“There’s Daley [Blind], Edwin [van der Sar], Robin van Persie … I watched them all. They won many titles and United always play interesting football so it’s very interesting to watch.” he said.
The player himself has received a lot of praise from Manchester United fans recently, after playing very well when MU was beaten by Aston Villa in a test match last weekend.
Tomorrow’s weekend, Manchester United will play their first Premier League match of the season against Crystal Palace.
