Valencia announce 5 players tested positive for COVID-19

Preventive action has been taken by the Spanish government, including by delaying the La Liga title this season. However, the spread does not immediately stop. In fact, Valencia found that there were five people who contracted the virus, including their players.

This news was immediately reportedly officially by Valencia through the club’s website on Sunday (03/15).

Valencia itself last time on the field is when dealing with Atalanta in the second leg of the last 16 of the European Champions League. The second leg match took place at the Estadio Mestalla which ended in a 1-4 defeat.

While the first leg took place in mid-February at Atalanta, ending in a 3-4 defeat. Although both matches take place without spectators, prevention of the Corona Virus could still occur.

Through their official website, Valencia on Sunday (3/15/2020) announced that they had conducted tests on all team members. The test results showed that there were five people in the club who contracted COVID-19.

Previously, it was revealed that one of the Valencia players who was hit by Corona was defender Ezequiel Garay. This was revealed directly by the Argentine player through his social media account.

However, please note that the Argentine did not play in two legs against Atalanta because of an injury. Meanwhile, Spanish media said that the other two players’ names were Eliaquim Mangala and Jose Gaya.

While Eliaquim Mangala himself played in the first leg of the party which took place at the San Siro, Milan. Meanwhile, Jose Gaya himself played the two legs in full. So it is likely that both players have contracted Corona Virus.

The COVID-19 outbreak which has now been established as a global pandemic has a major impact on many international agendas, including football. So far, the top five European leagues have been suspended for a while, including Serie A and the Premier League.

Also similar to the UEFA title, the Highest Football Association in Europe has postponed the European Champions League and Europa League titles. Did not rule out the European Cup will also impact because of this outbreak.
