This Liverpool legend does not accept the fact of Cavani joining MU
Manchester United’s decision to recruit Edinson Cavani last summer may have been criticized by their legend, Roy Keane, but Liverpool legend Steve Nicol is even jealous of the Red Devils’ success in getting the services of the Uruguay striker.
Edinson Cavani has indeed been recognized as one of Europe’s best strikers in recent years. However, the age factor has indeed changed his physical condition, he has been prone to injuries in the last two years.
As a result, there is no new contract agreement between the player and Paris Saint-Germain which then made him have to leave on a free transfer status last summer.
During the transfer market, the former Napoli player was linked with a number of European giants ranging from Juventus, AC Milan, Inter Milan, Chelsea, Barcelona and others.
However, in the end the 33-year-old striker joined Manchester United on the last day of the summer transfer window.
Given the player is a newcomer to the Premier League, it is only natural that he needs time to adapt. But this is not understood by MU legend, Roy Keane.
The Irish legend thinks that Manchester United’s decision to recruit Cavani is an inaccurate decision. But interestingly, this transfer actually received praise from Liverpool legend Steve Nicol.
Nicol thinks Manchester United has made a smart move by recruiting Cavani. Indeed, he is no longer young, but for the size of a reserve player, Cavani’s quality is more than enough.
“I think Edinson Cavani is a great option as a substitute for any team,” Nicol told ESPN.
In fact, Steve Nicol did not seem to accept the fact that Liverpool did not try to sign a player who could be obtained for free last summer.
“I myself would love to see Liverpool sign Cavani, and then the striker comes off the bench in the last 20 minutes of the game.” he said.
Cavani himself has managed to score his first goal for the Red Devils in the match against Everton before the international break. Now, the player is joining the Uruguay national team to play a qualifying match for the 2022 World Cup.
