This is Mesut Ozil’s farewell message to Arsenal
Through his uploads on Social Media, Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil expressed his farewell to Arsenal, as he officially joined Turkish club Fenerbahce.
In fact, speculation about Ozil’s move from Arsenal has echoed since the last two seasons, but he is concerned in the end to remain at the North London club.
Only on Sunday (24/01) yesterday, the former Real Madrid star actually officially left the Emirates Stadium. Ozil, who is in the final year of his contract with Arsenal, chose to move to Turkish club Fenerbahce.
Indeed, the last two seasons have looked difficult for Mesut Ozil, especially in the current 2020/21 season, where he has not been included in Arsenal’s squad for either the Premier League or the Europa League. As a result, moving clubs is the only solution for the player.
With this move, his 7.5 years of service with Arsenal ended. Ozil joined in 2013, after being redeemed from Real Madrid for 42.5 million Pounds Sterling.
Ozil then reminisced about when he was about to join the Gunners squad.
“It feels strange writing this message after so long here in London. From the moment I arrived here, it felt like home. I was welcomed with open arms by Arsenal staff, my team-mates and most importantly by incredible fans. ”
“I will always be grateful for the trust given to me by Arsene Wenger in September 2013,” Ozil said via his Twitter account.
During these 7.5 years, Ozil admitted that he learned a lot and developed at Arsenal. Nor will he forget the North London club, and consider it his second home.
“I grew up in North London, a place I can always call home. I’ll never forget that,”
“Being with Arsenal for so long has meant I’ve had a lot of ups and downs. About 250 games, 44 goals and 71 assists, then, it’s about time Arsenal and I parted ways.” Ozil continued.
There are still several other things that Ozil said as his farewell to Arsenal. He doesn’t even hold any grudges against the club, even though the past year the situation has seemed difficult.
