Stuck in position 8, Koeman believes Barca can win the league
Barcelona did indeed successfully reap the full points in the match against Levante yesterday, but in fact they are still stuck in 8th position. However, coach Ronald Koeman still believes that his team will be able to win La Liga in Spain.
The duel itself took place on Monday morning WIB (14/12) at the Camp Nou. Barcelona succeeded in creating lots of chances, but only one of them resulted in a goal.
The only goal was scored by the captain, Lionel Messi, to be precise in the middle of the second half. Even this 1-0 victory made Barcelona rise after winning bad results in the last two matches, including when dealing with Juventus.
However, it should be remembered that in the Spanish La Liga standings, Barcelona is still stuck in 8th position by only collecting 17 points from 11 matches. In that position, they are 9 points behind Real Sociedad at the top.
However, coach Ronald Koeman is still very confident in Barcelona’s chances of winning the Spanish La Liga at the end of the season, especially since they have two matches yet to be played.
“Of course. We can become La Liga champions. If we continue to improve and we are more confident and more effective in front of goal, then the opportunity to become champions is still open,” Ronald Koeman was quoted as saying by SportsMole.
Indeed, Barcelona’s performance this season cannot be said to be good, because in fact they conceded 11 goals in 11 matches, and swallowed four defeats.
But Koeman insists that the remainder of the season is still very long, the most important thing now is the return of confidence in his players.
“There are still a lot of games left. We know the conditions in the league. We know after losing to Cadiz we have to win and hopefully this is good for confidence,” said Koeman.
Furthermore, Koeman then praised Lionel Messi, who was the hero of Barcelona’s victory in that match.
“You have to realize that they don’t make it easy. Lionel Messi gets guarded by many Levante players. But he showed he was decisive in winning,” said Koeman.
