Solskjaer feels confident win against Manchester City
The Manchester Derby will be repeated again, this time in the semi-final of the League Cup or Carabao Cup. Unlike the previous meeting, the Red Devils in the game later acted as the home team. Related to the match, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has the confidence that his team will win again.
For information, Manchester United will face city rivals Manchester City in the midweek League Cup semi-final match this week, Wednesday morning WIB (08/01). Ahead of the match, Manchester City were in good condition, on the contrary Manchester United was being fragile.
Seen from the last few games they played, including when faced with Arsenal which ended in a landslide defeat of 0-2. Not surprisingly, the public championed Manchester City to package the victory in the match later. But Solskjaer believes his team can win at Old Trafford in the early morning.
The manager’s confidence is based on the victory achieved by his team in a match against his rival last December.
“We beat them last month, so we know that we can beat them,” Solskjaer told MUTV.
The coach recalled when his team conquered Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in December. According to him, the performance shown by Rashford et al at that time was very riveting.
“We played well at the time. I think we made nine or 10 chances in the first half, and we could have won three or four goals in the first half. ”
For Solksjaer the most important thing is to avoid pressing tightly by Pep Guardiola’s troops, and to take advantage of the smallest opportunities available when they are off guard.
“The key is we have to be able to get away from their pressing, because they are very good at grabbing the ball quickly. When you escape their pressure, you will get a good chance. “If we do strict pressing on them, so there are many ways to be able to win in this fight.”
Manchester United will return to Etihad to play the second leg which will take place at the end of January.
