Solskjaer ensures the absence of Edinson Cavani against PSG
Manchester United fans may feel disappointed because they have to be patient again to see Edinson Cavani’s debut. Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer ensures that the player will not play in the match against PSG tomorrow.
Yes, the Red Devils will travel to Paris to serve the challenge of Paris Saint-Germain in the European Chamions League Group stage. The Big Match duel will take place on Wednesday morning WIB (21/10).
Cavani himself is a former Paris Saint-Germain player who joined on a free transfer to Old Trafford last summer.
However, the Uruguayan striker cannot immediately join the Red Devils squad because he has to go through a 10-day self-quarantine process, as part of the Covid-19 protocol.
Actually, Cavani has started joining MU’s training session since Monday, because of that, he hopes that the player can reunite with his former club in tomorrow’s party.
However, Solskjaer said that the former Napoli player was still not 100 percent ready to appear, given that he had not played for quite a while after leaving PSG and only joined on the closing day of the transfer market.
“We want him to be there too, but he hasn’t played for a long time,”
“We think it is better for him to continue training. To prepare himself better. Edi knows what he wants and what he needs. He feels not quite ready.” Solskjaer said about Cavani’s absence, as quoted by RMC Sport.
Regarding the absence of his new colleague, Manchester United midfielder and captain Bruno Fernandes admitted that he understood. However, he believes Cavani can make a big contribution once he plays later.
“He’s not here which is normal, with only two days of training he needs to feel better. He’s adapting well. We only had one training session together. He likes to train hard,”
“He has the qualities to be a leader for us, from the way he trains. He will be important to us.” said Fernandes.
Meanwhile, this duel also became a reunion between MU and their former players, Ander Herrera and Angel di Maria.
