Solskjaer blames wind and rain for MU’s 1-1 draw

Manchester United coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made the weather the pretext of a draw which his team got when they traveled to Belgium early this morning. Not only that, he was also disappointed with the ball used in the match.

Manchester United visited Jan Breydel Stadium, Belgium to face the host of Club Brugge in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 32. The match which took place Friday morning WIB (21/02) ended with a 1-1 draw.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s tactics interpreter applied a quite different tactic in the first half, as a result the players looked difficult. They even finally conceded first when the game has been running for 15 minutes. Then, in the 36th minute managed to reply through Anthony martial.

Although ultimately saved from defeat, this draw is still disappointing for the Red Devils. Not to mention the performance that seemed less convincing displayed De Gea et al. They can’t do the transition well when attacking and look careless when defending.

Solskjaer was aware that his players were not optimal in the match, but the weather and the ball were also used as a pretext by the manager.

“We are a bit careless, but the conditions on the field and the condition of the ball make it more difficult. I think if you ask any player, those two problems clearly don’t help. The ball is different and difficult to play. Just try it,”

“Of course the problem is the same for both teams, but this condition is not good, this wind and rain. However, both teams scored strange goals. So the two teams did not concentrate enough, “Solskjaer told Metro.

Responding to the pretext from the Norwegian manager, Club Brugge coach Philippe Clement can only say that the ball used in the match was obtained from UEFA. The same ball is also used in other Europa League matches.

“We got the ball from UEFA, so it was not our ball. The same ball is used in other Europa League matches, so I don’t see any problems,” Clement stressed.

Manchester United now only need to draw 0-0 or win 1-0 in the second leg next March 12 if they want to qualify for the round of 16.
