s is Ibra’s explanation for wearing the number 21 jersey in AC Milan

AC Milan finally officially introduced Zlatan Ibrahimovic, as their new signing this winter market. There is nothing surprising about the success of the Rossoneri, because it has been smelled since last December. But what’s interesting is the Swedish player’s jersey number. Ibra chose jersey number 21, the last time worn by club legend Andrea Pirlo.

Ibra’s arrival at San Siro took place on Friday morning (03/12), AC Milan also reached an agreement with the player for a contract duration of six months with an option to extend one more season. Not only that, Ibrahimovic also agreed with a salary of 3.5 million Euros per season offered by the Rossoneri.

The Italian public, including AC Milan fans, is certainly no stranger to the figure of Ibra, he had defended the club between 2010 and 2012. In addition, Ibra also had defended Juventus and Inter Milan. But that invites curiosity, in his second period at Milan, Ibra chose instead to wear jersey number 21.

The number is indeed legendary in the history of Milan, because Andrea Pirlo had previously used it. But Ibra is more identical with numbers 9, 10 and 11.
Then, why does the person concerned choose the number 21? It turned out that the player revealed, that the number was the choice of his first child.

“Because that was the number my eldest son chose, I showed him all the numbers available and he chose 21,” Zlatan Ibrahimovic said.

Apart from the jersey number, Ibra insisted that his goal in coming to AC Milan was to help the club get back on its feet.

“The aim is to help the club, the team and improve the situation. Personally I want to do the best that I can,” Ibrahimovic said.

AC Milan are indeed down, they even ranked 11th in the Italian Serie A standings, just 7 points ahead of the Degradation Zone. The arrival of Ibra to AC Milan is certainly expected to boost the performance of Alessio Romagnoli et al, who are currently slumped.

Moreover, in his first period with AC Milan, Ibra scored 56 goals in 85 appearances in all competitions.
