Valentino Rossi wrote a message that was quite emotional through his personal Instagram account. The message was addressed to the riders he trained at the VR46 Academy, who recently performed proudly at the Italian Misano Circuit.
In the San Marino series yesterday, two VR46 Academy riders in the MotoGP event managed to become the fastest. First there was Franco Morbidelli who won, while Francesco Bagnaia was in 2nd place on the finish line.
Rossi actually almost climbed to the third podium, it’s a shame he failed to maintain his position, so Joan Mir fanned him on the last lap.
Of course that failure left Rossi disappointed, but apart from this he felt very proud to see two VR46 Academy riders win the podium. In other words, his hard work in building the academy since 2013 has now paid off.
Morbidelli’s achievement has made an extraordinary record, where all the riders trained by VR46 Acedemy have now tasted victory, except for Stefano Manzi who is still in Moto2.
Even so, there are still Marini or Bezzecchi who could follow because they are ranked 1st and 3rd in the drivers’ standings.
This proud achievement made Rossi feel emotional, he too wrote a touching message via Instagram.
“Seeing our riders finish in the two leading positions in Moto2, and then in MotoGP makes us feel proud and happy that we have never felt before.
“Thank you so much from my heart to the entire @ vr46ridersacademyofficial team, for their commitment, dedication and passion in doing their work every day. A special thank you also to our fans in the stands for their phenomenal support as always.” He wrote.
As for Rossi’s struggle with the eight VR46 academy riders, it will continue this season. Next, they will return to the Misano Circuit, in the Emilia Rimagna GP series 18 to 20 September 2020.
It’s just that Rossi will first undergo a mid-season trial this Tuesday on the same track.
