Rossi ‘goosebumps’ imagines the huge accident of Morbidelli-Zarco
Valentino Rossi thinks the accident between Johan Zarco and Franco Morbidelli has given him goosebumps. Moreover, when the YZR-M1 motorbike ridden by Morbidelli floated in front of his face.
As is known, a great accident indeed colored the Austrian MotoGP race at the Red Bull Ring, Sunday (16/8 /) yesterday. It was Morbidelli and Johann Zarco having a terrible accident on Lap 9.
Both of them were involved in a competition for the 8th position, but at the 3rd corner the two of them collided and fell hard on the ground. It’s terrible to see how the motorbikes of these two riders were completely destroyed, even the race was finally stopped for a while.
In the replay, a terrifying scene appears when the accident happened. It was when Morbidelli’s YZR-M1 and Zarco’s Desmosedici GP19 motorbike were destroyed, almost hitting Maverick Vinales and Rossi.
The two motorbikes spun hovered right in front of the two Monster Energy Yamaha team riders who were in 6th and 7th positions.
Speaking of the incident, Valentino Rossi could not deny that he got goosebumps when he saw the YZR-M1 motorbike just floated in front of his face.
In fact, for approximately 25 years of his career in MotoGP, this incident was the most terrible for The Doctor.
“Maybe this is the scariest event in my career. Franco’s bike gave me the chills. Even Johann’s Ducati bike also passed me a few meters ahead. It was a very dangerous moment.” said Rossi to Sky Sport.
Furthermore, Rossi considered that yesterday’s incident was not a mere accident, but according to him there was an element of deliberation from Johan Zarco to bring down Morbidelli. It can be seen from the change in the position of the Ducati riders.
“Sometimes this can happen as a result of bad luck. But this one isn’t bad luck, it’s intentional. Just watch the reruns: Johann changes the line at braking because he doesn’t want to be overtaken by Franco, so of course he does it with awareness.”
“Just think about it, this is a serious thing that shouldn’t happen,” he continued.
It was temporarily stopped, the race then continued and another Ducati rider, Andrea Dovizioso managed to become the winner.
