Rossi Believes A Duet With Franco Morbidelli Is A Good Fit
MotoGP Senior Rider Valentino Rossi seemed very happy and excited to meet one of his riders, Franco Morbidelli on the Petronas Yamaha SRT team. The Doctor is even sure that he can form a duet that fits Morbidelli.
For information, Rossi and Morbidelli have actually known each other since 2010, when Morbidelli was only 15 years old. Since then, Morbidelli together with the late Marco Simoncelli moved to Tauvilla to train with Rossi.
After the death of Marco Simoncelli in 2011, Rossi took the initiative to form an academy which he called the VR46 Academy in 2013, of which Franco Morbidelli was the first member at that time.
After successfully winning the Moto2 event in 2017, Franco Morbidelli then leveled up to MotoGP, becoming the first VR46 rider to have successfully entered the highest motorbike racing event, namely MotoGP since 2018.
Not only being a “complement” in the MotoGP event, Franco Morbidelli also succeeded in taking over 2nd place in the final standings of the last 2020 season. That is the reason why Rossi is sure that his duet with Franco Morbidelli will be interesting.
“I think Franco and I are an interesting partnership. We have a very good relationship. We know each other very well. We have often challenged each other with different bikes, and this year we will try it with MotoGP,” said Rossi.
In addition, The Doctor also feels very happy and proud to have the opportunity to defend the Petronas Yamaha SRT Team, even though this team is still relatively young.
“I am very proud to be able to defend the Petronas Yamaha Sepang Racing Team. This is a new challenge for me. This is a very young team, but for the last two seasons they have been very competitive. My M1 bike will be the same (like last year), and I think the season this would be fun, “he concluded.
Meanwhile, the 2021 MotoGP Pre-season Trials will be held on the weekend of tomorrow, while the first series will take place at the end of this March.
