Ronald Koeman denies issues of squad unrest at Barcelona dressing room
Inside the Barcelona dressing room has been rumored to be not conducive several times, including recently, where there are reportedly splits between the players. However, coach Ronald Koeman can confirm that the issue is not true.
In fact, the issue of this dressing room split is the result of a series of negative results the Catalan giants found last week. Reportedly, the Barcelona players blamed each other for the team’s poor performance.
Indeed, Barcelona had some bad results in all competitions last week, starting from the defeat against Cadiz then continuing to lose at home to Juventus in the European Champions League.
However, coach Ronald Koeman can confirm that it is just gossip for small change, given the fact that Barcelona players still support each other without any split as it is heard.
The Dutch tactician admits that there are some players who are not familiar with each other, but that also doesn’t mean they are hostile or involved in confrontation.
“I saw a good atmosphere in the squad, in training sessions and in matches. I didn’t see any problems between the players,”
“Yesterday we had Christmas after practice. The atmosphere is good, the drinks keep turning.” Koeman said to Sport.
Regarding a series of defeats, according to Koeman, it is very natural to affect the emotions of the players, but once the victory is won, everything will be fine.
“If the result is not what we expected, naturally it will affect the players. After the win you can observe a brighter atmosphere, even worse after losing.” He said.
Therefore, the former Everton coach hopes his players can maintain consistency in order to continue to win. In this way, the issue of division will automatically disappear.
“I want our team to play better and achieve better results. We have some troublesome things, injuries and other problems. These factors always affect the final result, but we definitely need to be more consistent,” he concluded.
As for Barcelona itself is currently ranked 8th in the La Liga standings with 9 points behind the top.
