Rivaldo asks Barcelona to postpone Coutinho sale
The future of Brazilian winger Philippe Coutinho is still unclear. Related to this, Brazilian legend Rivaldo asked Barcelona not to rush to sell the former Premier League star.
Barceona himself recruited Philippe Coutinho in the January 2020 winter transfer window for 150 million Euros from Liverpool. With very high pockets, of course the former Inter Milan is expected to be able to perform as expected
But after going through his first season, Coutinho is considered unable to pay public expectations. As a result, on the occasion of the transfer market last summer, the 28-year-old player was then released to the German Bundesliga club, Bayern Munich as a loan for one season.
Coutinho’s performance at Bayern is pretty good. Most recently, he even managed to score a hat-trick against Chelsea in the European Champions League. It’s just that Bayern Munich are believed not willing to redeem the player’s official tag this summer permanently.
The reason is because the figures set by Barcelona as a release clause for Brazilian players are very high, reaching 120 million Euros.
“It seems that Bayern Munich will not activate Philippe Coutinho’s permanent purchase clause at the end of the season, and he is likely to return to Barcelona.” Rivaldo said to Betfair.
That is, Bayern Munich may return Coutinho to Barcelona at the end of the season. However, Barcelona on one hand already has Antoine Griezmann, who bought it for 120 Million Euros from Atletico Madrid last summer.
Therefore, the Catalan giants are believed to sell Coutinho permanently in the transfer market later. However, Rivaldo asked his former club to think again, because he was sure Coutinho could still look good in the team directed by Quique Setien.
“If he gets a chance, Coutinho should be able to use it and show how good the ability he has.
He was an extraordinary player in England with Liverpool and he also performed spectacularly with the Brazilian national team, and he proved that he could be an important player,” he said.
For information, currently Coutinho is still under contract at Barcelona until 2023. Reportedly, he will be offered to a number of Premier League clubs including Liverpool.
