The community is now putting on a guard against the outbreak of COVID-19. And they routinely use masks when traveling, even when on the move at home. This is because news emerged that said that Coronavirus can spread through the air.
No wonder people do such actions, the article is the circulating assumption that Coronavirus can survive in the air for 8 hours. However, this assumption was immediately refuted or rectified by the World Health Organization, WHO.
WHO explained through its official Instagram account, that Corona Virus can be spread by droplets from positive patients whether it is coughing, sneezing or talking. They are too heavy in the air, so they won’t last long.
“These droplets are too heavy to survive in the air. They quickly fell to the floor and surface, “said WHO.
So, why do they suggest that we keep our distance from other people, or who have contracted this virus? This is because there is a possibility of physical contact. If there is physical contact, viruses on the skin last longer, and will infect us if accidentally touching the face.
The reason is, the face is the closest part to the nose, and the virus will enter the body automatically when we breathe.
However, it should also be known that this virus can last longer in certain conditions or places such as in hospitals.
The reason is, there are medical facilities that can be a medium for spreading this virus, whether it sticks to it or is mixed with aerosols which makes the virus last longer in the air. Therefore, medical workers need masks far more than we do.
“When you do procedures that produce aerosols such as in medical treatment facilities, you have the possibility for what we call aerosolize these particles, which means they can stay in the air a little longer,” Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove.
Coronavirus Outbreak or COVID-19 has indeed infected almost all countries in the world. Indonesia alone has found 1,285 new cases so far with 114 of them dead.
