Revealed! The reasons behind Jack Miller signs with Ducati

Ducati Corse Sporting Director, Paolo Ciabatti tries to explain the reasons behind the Ducati team’s decision to recruit Jack Miller from Pramac Racing to become their next 2021 rider.

Since the 2019 season, Jack Miller’s name is often associated with an Italian manufacturer. Unfortunately, at that time he was unable to compete with Fabio Quartararo, Maverick Vinales and Marc Marquez who were Ducati’s priorities.

However, as is well known these three targeted riders turned down offers from Ducati and chose to stay with their respective Manufacturers. Vinales and Quartararo stayed with Yamaha, while Marc Marquez agreed on a Four-year contract with Honda.

This rejection led to the decision to dissolve Jack Miller, moreover there was a deadline that required Ducati to quickly make a decision regarding their line up next season.

“Jack has been a candidate for the factory team racer since we started talking about the future late last year. Obviously at first we wanted to wait for the first few races to evaluate the situation and make the best decision,”

“But due to this pandemic, we cannot possibly start the season as usual. So, if we wait until July to make a decision, it will be too late. For this reason, we must make a decision based on several considerations, “said Paolo Ciabatti.

However, Ciabatti could not argue that Jack Miller’s quality is also quite adequate. The 25-year-old rider is quite experienced in the highest class of this motor racing competition. Counted he has joined since five years ago.

In fact, in the 2019 campaign yesterday, the Australian rider managed to collect five podiums. Ciabatti believes that Jack Miller can still be better.

“Age is one of our considerations, because Jack is still young, only 25 years old despite being five years down in MotoGP,”

“Besides, we saw his progress last year, and we believe he still has room to develop further. In the end, we decided that Jack was the right candidate to bring new energy to the manufacturing team in 2021,” he said.
