Real Madrid defeated by newly-promoted team, here’s what Zidane said…
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane tried to put his body in connection with the shock defeat swallowed by his team in the party against Shakhtar Donetsk this morning.
The Spanish La Liga champions face Shakhtar Donetsk on the first Matchdays of Group B of the 2020/21 European Champions League. The party itself took place on Thursday morning WIB (22/10) at the Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid.
Playing at home, Zinedine Zidane’s troops are actually more favored to win. But what happened was just the opposite, they even conceded three goals within 45 first half minutes.
During the break, Zidane tried to change strategy and this change worked out well. Sergio Ramos et al scored two goals in return, and even scored an equalizer which was later disallowed by the referee.
In the end, Real Madrid remained beaten with a final score of 2-3 at home. Even more embarrassing, Shakhtar Donetsk was known to field their second team in the match because many of the main players were injured.
After the match, Zidane did not avoid questions from journalists, the French coach still tried to put his body to what happened.
“I took responsibility and because the first half went negative, I didn’t do it right,”
“The opponent’s first goal changed everything and ended up costing us. However, it is just starting and we will not give up.” So said Zidane to Marca.
In fact, this is the second consecutive defeat Real Madrid has swallowed in its last two matches across all competitions.
This fact does sound bad, but Zidane feels confident that he can fix this situation, looking for the right solution ahead of the El Clasico duel at Camp Nou this weekend.
“I see myself able to fix it, and that’s what I will try. All the players here will try too,”
“We will find a solution and we will find it. Now we have to prepare for Saturday’s duel,” he concluded.
Unlike Real Madrid, Barcelona actually managed to win in the inaugural match of the European Champions League against Ferencvaros by a landslide score of 5-1.
