Quartararo never expect to replace Valentino Rossi

Rider from France, Fabio Quartararo did not expect to be able to replace a phenomenal figure like Valentino Rossi on the Monster Energy Yamaha team. He also hopes not be hated by fans of The Doctor.

Fabio Quartararo, 21, has indeed agreed to be part of the Yamaha Monster Energy Team for the upcoming 2021 season campaign. The announcement had been voiced since the end of January.

This agreement is evidence of serious steps from the Japanese manufacturer to rely on young prospective riders like Quartararo. While Rossi, who is 41 years old, is clearly at the end of his career and is no longer productive.

For Quartararo himself, the agreement was a surprise, he did not think he could shift Rossi who had always been an idol figure for him.

“When I was a child, Vale gave me motivation. Seeing him win in MotoGP makes me happy. When he won, I think I won too, “he said on Facebook Live with WithU as reported by Corsedimoto.

According to El Diablo, time goes so fast, starting from being a Rossi fan and next season will take over the idol’s place.

“To be honest, I didn’t realize that I would get a chance to race with him, and next year I will take over the bike. This is truly amazing, “said the 2013 and 2014 CEV Moto3 champions.

The deal makes Quartararo automatically become a tandem for Maverick Vinales next season. While Rossi was definitely eliminated from the Tala Fork Team.

Along with it, The Doctor’s future is unclear, whether he will retire or continue together with the Yamaha SRT Petronas Team.

VR46 fans are clearly unhappy with this, so Quartararo hopes he won’t be hated by Rossi fans. He personally hopes that the 41-year-old racer will continue to actively compete in the top class until the age of 65.

“I hope to get more love than hate from Italian fans. I hope he wants to continue at Petronas, because if he can continue racing until the age of 65, I will be happy! ” concluded El Diablo.
