Qualified To The UCL Quarter-finals, Zidane Praised Luka Modric
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane seems very satisfied with the performance of his team when securing tickets to the quarter-finals of the European Champions League this season. He especially praised midfielder Luka Modric.
Real Madrid faced Atalanta in the second leg of the last 16 of the European Champions League. The duel itself took place on Wednesday morning WIB (17/03) at the Stadio Alfredo di Stefano, Madrid.
With the aggregate advantage after winning 1-0 in the first leg, the Whites are certainly more calm and confident at home. As a result, Zinedine Zidane’s troops won 3-1.
Thanks to this victory, Los Blancos then managed to secure tickets to the quarter-finals 4-1 on aggregate.
Midfielder Luka Modric, who assisted for Los Blancos’ first goal scored by Karim Benzema, received special praise from coach Zinedine Zidane. According to the man from France, Modric shows absolutely no sign that he is 35 years old.
“He’s very smart, that’s clear. He’s 35, but it doesn’t show on the pitch.”
“I like the type of person like him. Today, he played double pivot with Toni, they had great chemistry and it was amazing for the team.” said Zidane on the club’s official website.
Furthermore, Zidane also praised the team captain, Sergio Ramos, who scored Real Madrid’s second goal with a penalty. According to Zidane himself, Ramos is an important player for the team.
“Not only in this competition, but every day. He is a leader and an important figure for us, ”
“That’s not the only problem now, he’s been here for many years. He’s had an incredible career and, of course, I would prefer he was here with us.” he added.
Unfortunately, it is still unclear the future of Sergio Ramos. On the one hand, the contract will end in the summer, while on the other hand, the new contract negotiations have never reached an agreement.
