Pepe Reina was “tricked” by AC Milan

Pepe Reina officially left AC Milan by joining Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season. Naturally, this Spanish goalkeeper left the San Siro, because his playing quota was minimal. Well, related to his decision, Reina indicated that AC Milan had “tricked” him.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper joined AC Milan from Naples in the summer of 2018. Before moving to the San Siro, the fact was that the former Bayern Munich goalkeeper performed brilliantly for Napoli with 22 Cleansheet’s notches from 47 matches. In other words, Pepe Reina is still very reliable despite being quite old.

Supposedly, Pepe Reina could join another European club, but he decided to move closer to AC Milan at that time. Though the club already has a main goalkeeper who is a target of Milan’s own academy team, namely Gianluigi Donnarumma. However, when Reina would join from Naples, news had indeed emerged that the departure of the Young Italy goalkeeper from San Siro.

But in the end, Donnarumma stayed in Milan, so the news was labeled as mere rumors. The reality is not the case. Pepe Reina himself revealed that at that time Milan told him that Donnarumma would be sold. What the Rossoneri said made him agree to join the San Siro.

“I moved to Milan because Gianluigi Donnarumma was about to be sold, but in the end he survived. I also try to help the growth of Gigio, “Reina told Onda Cero.

Now, Reina has officially left AC Milan, of course the goal is to get more minutes to play. Speaking of the Rossoneri, the former Napoli admitted that his former club was having a difficult period.

“Milan are having a little trouble, but they will return to their previous level,” concluded the former Liverpool goalkeeper.

Pepe Reina himself officially joined Aston Villa in the transfer market this winter through loan status until next June. It is unlikely that Reina will return to San Siro after the loan term ends. At the Premier League club, Reina is believed to be the first choice under the crossbar.
