Pep Guardiola officially extended his contract at Manchester City
The story of harmony between Pep Guardiola and Manchester City is certain to continue again after the former Barcelona coach agreed to a new contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Pep himself has been the manager of Manchester City since 2016, where at that time he replaced Manuel Pellegrini who was sacked following poor results at the end of the season.
Four seasons have passed, meaning this is his fifth season as manager of the Premier League Club. In fact, Pep has never handled a football club for more than four years, not even at Barcelona as his home club.
During that period too, the former Bayern Munich coach succeeded in gaining a lot of success at City. He managed to present two Premier League titles for the club.
The tactician’s contract is supposed to expire in 2021. He was linked with his former club, Barcelona. But it looks like Pep’s togetherness with Manchester City will continue.
The club has even confirmed this by achieving a three-year contract agreement.
“Manchester City are pleased to announce that Pep Guardiola has signed a two-year contract with the club. This new contract keeps him afloat until the summer of 2023.” This is the official statement of Manchester City.
Khaldon Al Mubarak as CEO of Manchester City is very enthusiastic about welcoming this new contract. According to him, Pep Guardiola is the right coach for Aguero et al.
“This extension of Pep’s contract is a product of the same belief between him and the whole club. This contract extension is a validation that there is a philosophy and structure being built in this team, and he is contributing a lot to that.”
“I’m sure the City fans are as happy as me that he’s signed a new contract.” he said.
Pep Guardiola himself is delighted with this new contract and is determined to lead Manchester City to other titles.
“Since I arrived at Manchester City, I have felt accepted by this club and city, including the players, staff and fans. The challenge is for us to continue to develop and continue to evolve. I am very excited to help Man City achieve that.” he said.
