Patience the key word for MU to secure tickets to the semi-finals

Manchester United managed to secure tickets to the semi-finals of this season’s Europa League thanks to a victory over Copenhagen in the quarter-final duel. According to Solskjaer, patience is the key to his team’s victory in this match.

The duel took place on Tuesday morning WIB (11/08) at RheinEnergie Stadium, Germany. The match ended with a score of 1-0, the Red Devils victory.

The only goal for Manchester United in the match was scored by Bruno Fernandes. The goal was created through the penalty spot, precisely in the extra time.

With this victory, the Red Devils automatically stepped into the last four, aka the Europa League semifinals.

A narrow victory of 1-0 showed that the match between the two teams was tight. Even if you look at the fact that Manchester United’s only goal was created through the penalty spot.

Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also admitted this, but fortunately, his players remained patient and calm until they finally won.

“We have to be disciplined, be patient, and in the end, our patience pays off. We created enough chances to win the game,”

“We hit the post a few times and had no luck with some VAR. It was the right decision, but we can do better,” Solskjaer told UEFA.com.

This victory is certainly satisfying for Solskjaer, but the Norwegian coach insists that there is still something to improve from his players. Especially in terms of finishing.

“We need to improve in many aspects. But, if you create a lot of chances like today, we have to be more clinical and efficient and also score goals,”

“Even though, we really created fantastic chances, sometimes it looked like the players wanted to dribble through the defense. But there were always some good defenders and the opposing goalkeeper who today was probably the best player in this game.” he added.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently still “blind” about the opponents they will face in the semifinals later. They still have to wait for the winner between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sevilla.

The duel is planned to be held on Wednesday morning WIB tomorrow (12/08).
