Out of the FA Cup, Complaints Solskjaer

Surprisingly, Manchester United defeated Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-final duel this season, where of course the defeat made coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer feel disappointed, so what did he say?

On Monday (22/03), Manchester United visited the King Power Stadium to face Leicester City in a duel titled the Europa League quarter-finals.

The Foxes, who acted as the host, first scored through the action of Kelechi Iheanacho.

Manchester United did reply with a goal scored by Mason Greenwood, but unfortunately Youri Tielmans and Iheanacho managed to score two winning goals for Brendan Rodgers’ men.

The 3-1 score also made Manchester United knocked out of the FA Cup, where they also lost one trophy in this 2020/21 season.

Speaking after the match, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer did not hesitate to complain about the poor performance of his players at King Power Stadium.

But what is interesting here is Solskjaer’s confession, where he said the duel against AC Milan in the Europa League a few days earlier made MU players lose a lot of energy.

“We didn’t have the spark tonight – but that’s understandable. This team has been outstanding in the last three or four months. We played every three days and were in good form. We were chased by all the games and trips.”

“Thursday night in Milan was a big night and it drained us very physically. We didn’t have the extra energy, authority and confidence today,” Solskjaer told BBC Sport.

Furthermore, the man from Norway again emphasized that this defeat was inseparable from the fact that many of his flagship players were exhausted due to busy schedules.

“We have too many players who have played too many games and too many who rarely play, Anthony Martial, Donny van de Beek, Paul Pogba and others try to come in but they don’t play often.”

“We are not strong enough to fight a tough team.”
