Odion Ighalo becomes Manchester United’s goal machine?
Amid public doubts about Manchester United’s policy of recruiting Odion Ighalo, the Nigerian striker has the support of Craig Cathcart. He believes, Ighalo can be a lethal striker for the Red Devils.
Manchester United is urged to recruit a brand-new striker in the transfer market last winter. Some names of players are suggested to be recruited by the Red Devils, one of them is Edinson Cavani. But, ahead of the closing of the transfer window, MU actually recruited Odion Ighalo.
The 30-year-old striker is in fact a former Watford player who defended Shanghai Senhua. Because the corona virus is plaguing China, the League was closed. Therefore, Manchester United take advantage of this situation to bring in Ighalo.
Club policies bring players who tend to be mediocre get criticism from various parties. The reason is, they lost the injured Marcus Rashford. Ighalo was considered unsuitable to replace Rashford’s role.
However, Craig Cathcart did not doubt the ability of the former colleague. He believes, Ighalo can be a goal machine for Manchester United.
“I really remember when we were promoted to the Premier League, he was always enthusiastic when we were going to fight the big teams. If I remember correctly, he often scores against big teams in the Premier League. ”
“Playing for Manchester United is a big opportunity for him. He has everything needed to succeed there, it’s because he is a good player and can score goals. “Catchart said as reported by the official MU website.
Indeed Odion Ighalo had played in the Premier League with Watford. During the defense of the club in the primary league, he managed to score just 33 goals. Then moved to the Chinese super league to play for Shangai Shenhua.
Manchester United officially announced Ighalo’s jersey number on the Red Devils squad last Monday (03/02). At Old Trafford, he will wear the jersey number 25 which was last worn by an Ecuadorian, Antonio Valencia.
It is likely that Ighalo will only make his debut with Manchester United in a match against Chelsea next week.
