Defending champion of the European Champions League, Liverpool is said to have withdrawn from the hunt for German striker, Timo Werner. The Marseyside team’s decision surprised Gary Neville.
The news of the Marseyside Team’s interest in Timo Werner has actually been heard since the winter transfer market last January. Coach Jurgen Klopp is reportedly interested in making the RB Leipzig striker a new mainstay on the front lines.
In fact, the German coach has reportedly taken a fairly intense approach with 24-year-old players. It’s just that Liverpool’s struggle to be anticlimactic, because they are surprisingly rumored to retreat from Werner’s hunt.
As a result this situation makes the rival club, Chelsea immediately moved to get the signature of this RB Leipzig player.
This makes Gary Neville seem hopeless, because the recruitment of Timo Werner should have a good impact on the Marseyside Team.
“Werner’s recruitment can be a strong statement for Liverpool,” Neville told Sky Sports.
Not without reason, the Manchester United legend feels that Timo Werner is a great young striker, and in his opinion fits perfectly with Jurgen Klopp’s philosophy.
“He is a great striker. He was very young and he fit the profile of the player Jurgen Klopp was looking for in his team. His presence can be proof of where Liverpool are at the moment.” He continued.
The news was heard mentioning that Liverpool actually had reached an agreement with Timo Werner. The player is also interested in joining Anfield. It’s just that the price tag installed by RB Leipzig is not affordable by Premier League clubs.
The Reds’ financial condition is believed to be unstable following the coronavirus pandemic which could stop the competition.
“With this post-pandemic situation, we know that many clubs are experiencing financial problems. Maybe Chelsea are brave enough to offer a bigger contract than Liverpool, or maybe Liverpool don’t want to pay the amount they agreed on before,” he said.
According to information heard, Chelsea alone paid £54 million to RB Leipzig for the German national team player. The player will soon be introduced as a new player after the season title ends.
