Moreno believes Atletico will “suffer” when visiting Anfield

Atletico Madrid may smile after the victory at Wanda Metropolitano, but Alberto Moreno believes Diego Simeone’s men will suffer greatly, when they visit Liverpool’s Anfield headquarters.

These two teams will face each other in the last 16 of the European Champions League last 16 this season. The first leg duel took place at Wanda Metropolitano in mid-February. In that match, Atletico Madrid won with a final score of 1-0.

However, Liverpool was not completely eliminated. They can still qualify for the last eight, as long as they win by a two-goal margin when they play the second leg at Anfield next week.

In fact, Liverpool are known to have an impressive record when playing home games in recent seasons. In fact, Barcelona classmates already feel how the anfield is haunted.

Precisely, at the European Champions League last season, where the Blaugrana were drawn against Liverpool in the two leg semi-finals. Barcelona won convincingly in the first leg with a 3-0 score.

But, when they visited Anfield, they were defeated by a landslide score of 0-4. As a result, Barcelona must be excluded from the grand competition.

For this reason, Alberto Moreno, who spent five years defending Liverpool, was convinced that Atletico Madrid would suffer when they visited Anfield.

“I know how tight Anfield is and it’s clear that Atletico will suffer a lot,” Moreno told La Vanguardia.

But Liverpool fans shouldn’t be so sure either. The reason is, over the past few weeks the performance of Jurgen Klopp’s troops has been shining.

Mohamed Salah Cs so far has swallowed three defeats in his last four matches in all competitions. They were not even able to score in these two matches. In addition, Liverpool goalkeeper has conceded eight times in the last four matches.

Of course, that is a trend Liverpool must end. However, scoring two goals against Atletico Madrid, known as a team with solid defense, is not an easy matter.

Meanwhile, the second leg of the duel Leg 16 of the European Champions League between Liverpool against Atletico Madrid, will take place on Thursday morning WIB Upcoming, 12 March 2020.
