Morbidelli feels proud to had trained with Rossi and the late Simoncelli

Franco Morbidelli feels himself to be one of the luckiest riders having experienced training with two phenomenal figures in this sport, Valentino Rossi and the late Marco Simoncelli.

Previously, it should be noted that Franco Morbidelli was one of the riders who graduated from the Valentino Rossi academy. He has joined VR46 Academy since he was 13 years old.

Starting from an invitation to practice on Rossi’s track, until finally he continued to join the Academy team formed by the Italian rider.

“I met Vale when I was 13 years old, when he was still training on his old track, Cava. At first I trained with him on the track, and then in the gym, and then he wanted to help me, as well as in the manager area.”

“Since then, things have developed gradually by themselves,” said Morbidelli while guest starring on the Dainese YouTube Channel.

Meanwhile, Marco Simoncelli is a member of the VR46 Academy Team. Unfortunately, this talented young rider died in an accident at the Sepang Circuit, Malaysia in the 2011 MotoGP.

Even so, Franco Morbidelli, who is now 26 years old, admits that he is very grateful to have experienced training with The Doctor and the late Marco Simoncelli.

“I’m very excited to be able to ride with Vale, as well as Sic. I’m very happy.”

“I really want to learn a lot from them, see what they do, what they do on the track, the way they behave, and it feels really good to have a challenge from them,” he said.

What amazes Morbidelli is the incredible relationship between Rossi and Simoncelli. While on the track, the two of them seemed to be competing to win, but as soon as the race ended, they acted as if there was no competition.

“It’s great to see two world-class riders fight each other in a completely different disciplinary environment. It’s amazing to see them fighting so hard, but joking about their actions afterward,” concluded Morbidelli.

Now, starting the 2021 season, Franco Morbidelli will team up with his mentor, Valentino Rossi on the Petronas Yamaha SRT team.
