Morbidelli believes could win over Valentino Rossi
There is no more satisfying sensation for a Franco Morbidelli than beating a man who is a role model and his mentor in MotoGP, Valentino Rossi.
For information, The Doctor certainly no longer defends Team Monster Energy Yamaha next season. It is very likely that The Doctor will defend the Yamaha SRT Petronas Team if indeed he did not retire after this season ends.
That means, Rossi could be a tandem Franco Morbidelli, foster children at VR46 Academy who have been defending the Petronas Yamaha SRT team since last season.
Meanwhile, Japanese manufacturers have chosen Quartararo to fill the Valentino Rossi post in the Yamaha Monster Energy Team next season. Rossi on the one hand is willing to replace Quartararo if he does not retire.
If Rossi had really joined the Petronas Yamaha SRT team, he would have formed a unique tandem with Franco Morbidelli. Because, Morbidelli is a former student at VR46 Academy. Rossi even thought of him as his own younger sibling.
Morbidelli himself claimed to be ready to welcome Rossi as his tandem, and would feel motivated by the presence of The Doctor. But, the Italian Rider can’t talk much, considering his contract at the Yamaha Petronas SRT Team will also end next season, and there are no new contract talks yet.
“So Vale’s tandem will be everyone’s extra motivation. In general, however, it is still difficult to talk about the future, because there is no way to ride a motorcycle, so I have not been able to prove whether I am worthy,” said Morbidelli.
In the 2018 season campaign, Franco Morbidelli had three wins over Rossi. First in the Assen series, where Morbidelli was able to finish in 5th place, while Rossi failed to reach the finish line.
Whereas when the series in Thailand, Morbidelli successfully finished in 6th position while Rossi was two positions behind. Finally in the Japan Series, the 25-year-old Rider finished 6th, while Rossi again failed to reach the finish line.
“Defeating Vale can certainly give a different sensation, because in essence you beat one of the greatest riders ever. Vale is a true living legend, so if you defeat him it will be very satisfying, “he concluded.
