Although Mauro Icardi is one of the talented strikers and has contributed a lot to Inter Milan, club legend Giuseppe Bergomi considers his permanent transfer to Paris Saint-Germain to satisfy all parties.
Mauro Icardi, 27, joined Paris Saint-Germain on loan for a full season in the transfer market last summer. His performance along with Les Parisiens was quite impressive, where he scored 20 goals in 31 appearances.
Even so, reports circulating claim that the Paris Saint-Germain side is still hesitant to redeem Argentine players permanently. But, after seeing the fact that Edinson Cavani is getting older, PSG finally agreed to buy Icardi for 50 million euros.
Icardi may be a good player, can score a lot of goals and is crucial in Inter Milan’s big games so far, but the transfer does not necessarily disappoint the Nerazzurri.
They did indeed rely heavily on the Argentine player, but since clashing with club management, Icardi seems to have no future at San Siro. Therefore, Bergomi considers that this agreement has been satisfying all parties.
“Inter made a decision about Icardi last year. Considering all the situations that occur, I think PSG shows a good decision for all parties.
Icardi joins a club that doesn’t have the prestige of Inter, but he can win the Ligue 1 title and technically they can still win the Champions League.” Bergomi said to Sky Sports Italia.
Meanwhile, since releasing Icardi in the transfer market last summer, Inter Milan have already taken steps to anticipate by recruiting Belgian star Romelu Lukaku. The former Chelsea player was bought for 80 million pounds from Manchester United.
Bergomi believes that so far Lukaku has become an ideal successor for Icardi.
“Meanwhile, Romelu Lukaku has done a fantastic job replacing Icardi, so everyone is happy,” explained Bergomi.
It is true, so far Romelu Lukaku has appeared, where the player has packed 23 goals from 45 appearances in all competitions for Inter Milan. Not to mention the emergence of Lautaro Martinez, who tandem Lukaku on the front lines.
