Match against Leicester will be crucial for Liverpool
Boxing Day is getting closer, and of course there will be some interesting matches taking place, including a match between Liverpool and Leicester City. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker has the view that the match will be crucial for the Marseyside team.
As is known, Liverpool has just won the last championship in 2019 by winning the Club World Cup trophy, after defeating Flamengo in the final round. After that, Liverpool were immediately confronted with another tough match on the Premier League stage. They will face the closest rival, Leicester City.
The Foxes since handled by Brendan Rodgers cannot be underestimated, in fact, they succeeded in being second in the Premier League standings, with 39 points from 18 matches. Liverpool itself is currently still 10 points ahead of Leicester, and still has one game left.
The Foxes failed to cut distance with the Marseyside Team after being defeated by Manchester City on Matchday 18 last weekend with a final score of 1-3. Fortunately, they are not displaced from the 2nd position in the standings. Even so, Liverpool goalkeeper, Alisson Becker still looked alert at the match later.
According to him, the final results of the match will be very crucial for Liverpool, so he asked his colleagues to perform optimally.
“You cannot think in the long run. You only need to see what’s in front of you to not miss the moment, not to miss the opportunities you have. If you want to win the Premier League, you need to try to win every game and in my opinion the match against Leicester City will be as important.”
“They have great players and are in a good moment, and we just need to give our best on the field to try to beat them,” Alisson told ESPN.
For information, in last season’s campaign Liverpool only swallowed just one defeat, but eventually they failed to win after one point behind Manchester City. After against Leicester City, Liverpool will still have one more match in the Premier League before the turn of the year, they will face Wolverhampton.
