Manchester City plans to build a statue in honor of David Silva
The magnitude of David Silva’s services for the success of Manchester City to become one of the best in the Premier League, made the club plan to build a statue on one side of the Etihad.
For information, this Spanish winger was bought by Manchester City from Valencia in the 2010 summer transfer market. Since then, he has won a total of 14 titles, including 4 Premier League titles.
David Silva is a vital player for Citizen, in fact he has rarely been sidelined from City’s main squad over the past 10 years, despite three coach changes during that period.
During the last decade, David Silva has recorded 77 goals in 436 appearances in all competitions.
However, in 2020 it will be confirmed that Silva will no longer be part of Manchester City after he decided not to renew his contract again at the Etihad.
Actually, the club planned to extend David Silva’s contract at the Etihad, but he refused the offer.
Apart from that, Manchester City certainly still feel indebted to the player. This was also acknowledged by the Club President, Khaldoon Al Mubarak, where he revealed that Manchester City planned to immortalize the player in the form of a statue on one side of the Etihad Stadium.
“He has left a mark on the team, at this club, history and even the Premier League as a whole. He is an important figure in the philosophy of the beautiful football you see today. He started it,” he continued.
“Like Vincent before him, the statue of David will act as a lasting reminder of the wonderful moments he gave us, not only as an extraordinary footballer, but an inspiring representative who represents this club with dignity,” he concluded.
So far, David Silva has not yet determined how his career will continue on the pitch.
But as reported by Sky Sports, David Silva will continue his football career in Italy. The 34-year-old man is said to be joining Simeone Inzaghi’s troops, Lazio. It’s just that, until now, no agreement has been reached.
