Manchester City don’t need Lionel Messi?

Recently, Manchester City has been strongly linked with Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi. Although in the end the speculation did not materialize, midfielder Kevin De Bruyne was not immediately disappointed because he thought City did not need Messi.

As is known, the news of Lionel Messi’s departure from Barcelona was indeed a stir to become a media conversation last summer. The Argentine captain clearly sent a fax containing a transfer request to Barcelona.

But unfortunately, the Catalan giants did not approve of Messi’s departure, they put a tag of 700 million euros which of course cannot be redeemed by any team in the midst of a pandemic like this.

Even for Manchester City, those who were strongly suspected of being able to accommodate Messi, couldn’t do anything about it. In the end, the reunion discourse between Messi and Pep Guardiola (the current City coach) could not materialize.

Manchester City fans may be disappointed to hear the news that Messi has not joined. But not so with midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

The Belgian player admits that he doesn’t care about the issue of Messi’s arrival, because according to him Pep Guardiola’s team already has a capable squad.

“I don’t really care, to be honest. If he comes, great. If not, there are still good players at the club that I enjoy playing with,” De Bruyne said as quoted by Goal International.

De Bruyne himself has become a byword for football fans over the last few years related to his slick performance with Manchester City.

According to news circulating, Citizen plans to give a new contract to the former Chelsea. But so far De Bruyne admits that he has not received a new contract offer.

Even so, he would be very happy if the club did give him a contract extension.

“I am very happy to be at the club, I can say at the moment that I haven’t spoken to the club once, so I don’t know why people say I have agreed on something,”

“I always say that I am very happy at this club and feel comfortable. So, if the people at the club want to talk, I am open to that and we will see what will happen. But at the moment nothing is happening,” he concluded.
