Lucas Digne officially joins Everton
The Premier League midfield team, Everton finally officially brought in one of the talented young French defender, Lucas Digne. The 22-year-old player was redeemed by the toffees from the Catalan club, Barcelona. Digne claimed to be very enthusiastic about new challenges in the premier league.
In fact, Lucas Digne’s transfer issue to Everton has surfaced in recent weeks, despite the fact that he was able to take part in the Barcelona training camp taking place in the United States. Then, the issue was further strengthened by the player’s farewell to his colleagues in Barcelona through social media.
Shortly after the farewell remark was written, Digne was immediately announced as Everton’s new recruit in the summer transfer market this year. According to an official release from the English Premier League club, Digne was redeemed from Barcelona by pocketing no less than 20 million Euros not including the required bonus to be paid if the player performed well in his debut season.
With the arrival of Digne, it means that Everton has got the figure of a player who became a Leighton Baines competitor at the left back position, as Baines himself has begun to experience a decline in performance due to age. But of course, Digne, who was contracted for the next five years, needed time to adapt, considering this was his first experience in a career in the Premier League.
However, Digne stressed that he was not at all afraid of the fact, instead, he was enthusiastic about the new challenges he would face next season with the Marseyside club.
“I want to show my best in football here and explore the best league in the world. Everyone loves the Premier League and I like the fact I came here. I am not afraid, just enthusiastic. For me, this is a new challenge to explore countries, leagues, people and great clubs like Everton. It’s amazing, “the 25-year-old told Everton TV.
Digne left Barcelona after recording 46 appearances during his two seasons at the Camp Nou. The lack of opportunity to play with Barcelona is the main reason Digne’s decision to leave this summer.
