Liverpool’s elimination from Champions League is “natural law”?
Bologna coach, Sinisa Mihajlovic has his own views about Liverpool’s failure in the Champions League this season. According to him, the Marseyside team is a victim of natural law.
After successfully winning the campaign in the 2018/19 season yesterday, Liverpool is actually seen as one of the favorite teams this season. Because the composition of their squad also did not change much.
In addition, the Marseyside team also seemed to show outstanding performance on the domestic stage. They just swallowed just one defeat in a total of 29 matches in the Premier League.
However, what happened was actually below expectations. Liverpool were eliminated in the last 16 of the European Champions League after losing 2-4 on aggregate to Atletico Madrid. The first leg in Spain ended 0-1, while the second leg at Anfield lost again by a score of 2-3.
This result is certainly surprising, especially Liverpool had two goals ahead when diving the second leg at Anfield last week. However, Sinisa Mihajlovic was not surprised at all. According to him, Atletico Madrid deserve to qualify for the quarter-finals.
“Sooner or later Jurgen Klopp will slip. That is the natural law of their extraordinary performance. They display a performance that can never be repeated in the Premier League so far and they will be champions. “Liverpool have been pursuing that title for years,” Sinisa Mihajlovic was quoted as saying from La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Mihajlovic also praised Atalanta, who scored eight goals in two legs against Valencia. However, according to him, City Guides directed by Pep Guardiola remain the championship favorite this season.
“Atalanta scored eight goals against Valencia, they deserve to be in the quarter-finals and can go further, but my favorite to win the final is still Manchester City,” said Sinisa Mihajlovic.
Unfortunately, the Corona Virus outbreak has made the ongoing competition temporarily delayed. Including the European Champions League and Europa League which has also been delayed by UEFA.
“All parties must have the same view. Without controversy, or for any reason. Who wins, who loses. What we experience now is learning, “said Sinisa Mihajlovic.
