One of the former Liverpool players, John Barnes, advised his former club to rethink the plan to recruit Kylian Mbappe from PSG. According to him, the plan does not need to be realized in the near future.
The Reds have reportedly been interested in Mbappe’s services several times. Naturally, the 22-year-old player has performed brilliantly with PSG so far, and on the one hand he is also open to the possibility of trying new challenges outside France.
He is still very young, but his performance is considered to be one of the best. Not surprisingly, Liverpool and a number of other European giants are interested in recruiting Mbappe.
However, John Barnes felt that the French winger was not the player Liverpool needed, not at this time. Instead of strengthening the attack line, Barnes instead highlighted Liverpool’s dilapidated defense in the absence of Van Dijk and Joe Gomez.
“Mbappe is a fantastic player but the front area is not a position Liverpool need to strengthen, but if he can play center-back they will have to get him in January!”
“If Liverpool’s position in the table goes down, he won’t come to Liverpool – so they have to worry about this season,” Barnes told BonusCodeBets.
Apart from the need, John Barnes also feels that Mbappe’s signing plan could have an impact on the conditions of the player’s changing room. His presence is later considered to be able to disrupt the harmony of Jurgen Klopp’s squad.
Not because of the player’s attitude, but it is feared that his presence will make other players sidelined in terms of club treatment.
“What Liverpool want are hungry players, regardless of whether they are top players or not – the club’s success is the most important thing,” said Barnes.
In this case, John Barnes then took Neymar as an example, where the Brazilian player also considered that he would not be suitable for Liverpool to sign.
“Like Neymar for example, who is one of the best players in the world but doesn’t fit well with Liverpool – it can shake the respect and harmony of the group,” he continued.
