Former Arsenal coach, Arsene Wenger, has made another comment on the negative period Liverpool are currently experiencing, especially after the shock defeat to Everton.
The performance of Jurgen Klopp’s team did appear to have decreased drastically, in fact, they had only won twice in the Premier League after a 7-0 victory over Crystal Palace in December 2020.
Even though in the European Champions League, the Reds did manage to win over RB Leipzig. The victory is believed to be the point of awakening of the Premier League champions.
Unfortunately, only a few days later, Liverpool lost again in the duel at Anfield against their city rivals, Everton.
The continued match of the English League which took place on Sunday early morning (21/02) ended with a landslide score of 0-2. Two goals were presented by Richarlison and Gylfi Sigurdsson in each half.
The defeat is clearly painful for Liverpool, because they have swallowed four consecutive defeats in the Premier League, and the latest defeat has made the Reds even further behind from the top of the standings.
Regarding the bad situation that befell Liverpool, former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger saw the lack of confidence and charisma of the Reds players in the duel against Everton yesterday.
“Their form was lousy and tonight’s result adds a little doubt. They lacked confidence in whatever was being done.”
“It affects you and can go up quickly, but again tonight, they tried hard, were focused and motivated but lacked charisma in the team,” said Wenger.
Even so, the figure who now sometimes works as an English football pandit sees some positive things from Liverpool, including enthusiasm and spirit to win.
“Overall, they are questioning themselves right now. But tonight I said they produced the desire and quality performance which was quite slick, just not able to making goals,” he concluded.
Currently, Liverpool is ranked 6th in the standings. Not with the top of the standings, they are actually two points behind the top four.
