Lewis Hamilton was the fastest in the “dramatic” Tuscan GP
Team Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton managed to solidify his position at the top of the Formula 1 standings thanks to the victory at the Tuscan GP at the Mugello Circuit, Italy last Sunday (13/09).
In this drama-filled race, Lewis Hamilton managed to bloat his team-mate, Valtteri Bottas, who ended up finishing second fastest.
Meanwhile, Alexander Albon could only fill the podium slot at the race in Italy yesterday. Yes, the Red Bull Racing Honda Driver finished in 3rd place.
As we said, the results of this race made Lewis Hamilton even more unchallenged at the top of the 2020 Formula 1 standings.
The man from England has pocketed 190 points from a total of 9 Races he has played so far. With this number, Hamilton is 55 points ahead of his partner, Valtteri Bottas, who is in 2nd place.
Max Verstappen, who is a Red Bull Honda driver, is in 3rd position with 110 points. Unfortunately at the Tuscan GP yesterday, Verstappen failed to reach the finish line after an accident on the first lap at turn 4.
Apart from Verstappen, the accident also involved Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri), Romain Grosjean (Haas), and Kimi Raikkonen (Alfa Romeo). The safety car had to be launched after the incident occurred.
The drama was still ongoing after the Safety Car was withdrawn, where there was a terrible accident that occurred on the straight track, as a result the organizers raised a red flag which meant the race had to be temporarily stopped on lap 9.
This accident started when Kevin Magnussen (Haas) was hit from behind Antonio Giovinazzi (Alfa Romeo) and hit Nicholas Latifi (Williams) and Carlos Sainz.
After a few minutes, the race was followed by 13 riders. However, the Drama still did not stop, on lap 46, the Red Flag was raised again. This is because one of the riders, Lance Stroll, was involved in a terrible accident.
But it didn’t take long, the race was held again only a few minutes later, at which time Lewis Hamilton managed to become the fastest.
Despite leading by a long distance, the 2020 season is still long enough for Hamilton to secure the title.
