Leonardo Bonucci reportedly rejects Manchester City’s offer

Italian National Team defender Leonardo Bonucci has reportedly just turned down an offer from Premier League giants Manchester City. The player is not interested in leaving his career in Turin.

In fact, the news of Manchester City’s interest in the 33-year-old defender is not the first time it has been heard. Bonucci has previously been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium, especially since Josep Guardiola became the main manager of the Premier League club.

Indeed, it cannot be denied, Manchester City’s main problem in recent seasons has been defense. Despite having a deadly line of midfielders and attacking lines, their defense is pretty bad.

This also made Pep Guardiola’s men fail to defend the Premier League title last season. They surrendered from Liverpool after playing 31 games.

Manchester City are serious enough to fix their back line, this can be seen from the club’s success in bringing in Nathan Ake from Bournemouth.

However, the former Chelsea player still feels that he has not done enough to fix the existing holes. For this reason, Manchester City reportedly want Bonucci to improve the quality of their defensive wall.

Sky Sport Italia reports that City have made another approach to Bonucci. They want to sign him this summer.

However, City’s desire to get Bonucci should be one-sided. The Italian center-back still has no intention of leaving Juventus at this point.

The former AC Milan player was said to be very enthusiastic about the arrival of Andrea Pirlo in the manager chair. Bonucci is also interested in experiencing the experience of working under the direction of his former teammate next season.

As is known, Juventus had indeed fired Maurizio Sarri from the manager’s seat, then appointed Andrea Pirlo as his replacement.

Bonucci himself still has four years remaining on his contract at Allianz Stadium. He is expected to want to end his career in Turin. The last two years have been his second period at Juventus after leaving for AC Milan in the 2017/18 season.

During these two periods, he has collected 407 appearances in all competitions with 8 Scudetto titles including one of his major contributions.
