Jose Mourinho wants Tottenham to sign in Raphael Varane
Ahead of the approaching winter transfer market, there is a lot of speculation heard in European media. The latest, Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager, Jose Mourinho, is claimed to have asked his club management to recruit a brand-new defender. The defender wanted by The Special One is his former player at Real Madrid, Raphael Varane.
For your information, Jose Mourinho himself is a manager who played a role in bringing Raphael Varane to the 2011 summer transfer market. Therefore, the Portuguese coach is reportedly interested in having a reunion with Raphael Varane at the North London club.
Previously, it was rumored that the Portuguese coach actually wanted to reunite for a long time, precisely when he was still handling Manchester United. However, his efforts to bring the French national team defender moved from the Spanish capital failed. Well, this time at Tottenham Hotspur, Mourinho is believed not to want to fail again to complicate the defender.
Therefore, The Special One is claimed to have urged Daniel Levy as Club Chairman to try to recruit Raphael Varane. This Real Madrid defender wants to be brought in to strengthen Tottenham Hotspur’s defensive line. So far, Spurs have conceded 15 goals and only recorded one clean sheet in the last nine games under Jose Mourinho.
For this reason, the manager wants his club to bring a new, quality defender in the January 2020 winter transfer window. The report claims Tottenham are preparing a bid of around 80 million Euros or equivalent to IDR 1.2 trillion for the center back who won the World Cup.
However, the Real Madrid are believed to not be willing to release Varane with a tag of that size, they want a higher pocket. Previously, Varane also admitted he was unwilling to leave the club that had catapulted his name. Instead, he wants to be part of the future team of Los Blancos.
However, other news claims that the French players no longer see bright prospects at Real Madrid along with the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. As is known, Los Blancos failed to win the title last season, which for the first time in 10 years without Cristiano Ronaldo.
