Jordi Farre believes Messi will stay if he becomes president of Barca
Jordi Farre, one of Barcelona’s new presidential candidates, is confident that the club’s mainstay superstar Lionel Messi will remain at Camp Nou if he is elected as the new President of the Catalan club.
It must be admitted, one of the toughest homework for the new President of Barcelona is Lionel Messi. How come? The captain’s future at Camp Nou is uncertain, considering his contract will expire in 2021.
If there is no new contract agreement then Messi has the opportunity to leave on a free transfer, aka free in the summer. Meanwhile, on the one hand, La Pulga has been linked with a number of European giants since last summer.
These include PSG and Manchester City. Both have the resources needed to plow the six Ballon d’Or winner from Barcelona.
But Jordi Farre as one of the candidates for the New President of Barcelona claims that Lionel Messi and his family are not interested in leaving Barcelona, therefore he has a solution and believes that solution can make the captain stay at the Camp Nou.
“Messi wants to stay at Barca. That’s what I know. His family wants to stay at Barcelona and we will work on that,” he exclaimed to Onda Cero.
Unmitigated, Farre is even sure that Messi will agree to a new contract just a day after he is elected as the new President of Barcelona later.
“I would say further that if we win the election, Messi will renew his agreement. The extension will be automatic on January 25 if I win the election the day before,” claims Farre.
Furthermore, Farre also provided another lure that was no less extraordinary for Barcelona fans, namely the return of Neymar. He is confident that he will be able to repatriate the Brazilian star to Camp Nou, even if it costs a lot.
“The recruitment of Neymar will be cheap because the investment is greater than the outlay,” continued Farre.
But of course, competing with Joan Laporta and Victor Font to become the new president of Barcelona is not an easy matter.
