After successfully becoming world champion in the 2020 MotoGP event, many predict Joan Mir will have difficulty competing in the upcoming 2021 season campaign. This is because the defending champion, Marc Marquez has returned from injury.
As is known, Marc Marquez did suffer an arm fracture in the first MotoGP series this season. His condition worsened so that the Repsol Honda Team rider did not even go down in the 2020 season.
Meanwhile Joan Mir has successfully locked the title since the Valencia series last weekend. This success made the Suzuki Elctar rider the first rider after Jorge Lorenzo who was able to stop Marc Marquez’s domination at this Grand Prix event.
Jorge Lorenzo achieved this success in 2015 while defending Ducati, but the difference was that Marc Marquez was at his best. Meanwhile, Joan Mir managed to beat the Honda rider who was injured and was absent since the first series.
Therefore, it is not surprising that many doubt how Joan Mir can defend the title in the next 2021 season with the presence of Marc Marquez on the track.
However, Rider Suzuki insisted that he had absolutely no reason to be afraid of other riders, including Marc Marquez.
“To be honest, I’m not afraid of Marc. After all, we are all here to fight for victories and titles,” he said.
However, the 23-year-old racer claims to have prepared a special plan in case Marc Marquez returns to the track again next season.
“The rider who wins the most now is Marc, and we have to take part in that fight. This year is going well, but next year it will be a big challenge.”
“Even so, even if I don’t win this year, I’ve been thinking about how to beat Marc next year,” continued Mir.
Furthermore, Joan Mir admitted that he had learned a lot from the figure of Valentino Rossi, the 9 times world champion.
“Vale is the person I observe the most of the other riders, I study what he does and what he does on the track. I also feel his character best reflects me.” close Mir.
