Jesse Lingard opens up reasons for leaving MU
The 28-year-old midfielder Jesse Lingard finally opened his voice about the reasons behind his decision to leave Manchester United in the winter transfer window in January and join West Ham United on loan.
In fact, it has been long rumored that Lingard left Old Trafford, but in the end he only moved in January to West Ham.
This move is also considered reasonable, considering that the 28-year-old player was not part of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s scheme in the first half of this season.
Interestingly, with The Hammers, Lingard appeared good, even in his debut match he immediately scored two goals against Aston Villa.
Speaking of that, Lingard also admits that currently his focus is to play as well as possible, enjoying his performance on the field like he used to be.
“First and foremost I am here to play, win and help the team, so hopefully I can do it and we will see where we are at the end of the season,”
“It’s about playing with a smile on my face and enjoying my football and coming back to the old Jesse,” Lingard told BT Sport.
Before being marginalized from the Red Devils squad, Lingard had indeed been relied on quite by his club, including in the Jose Mourinho era and when the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer era had just started.
“During the lockdown, I repeated my best moments playing football – the season under Jose where I scored all those goals and went to the World Cup and the season when Ole came on and I started well,” he explained.
During the lockdown, Lingard struggled to restore his condition to the best level, often training in the gym and so on. But when the competition resumed, he never got the chance to play.
“I’m back to being one of the strongest and fittest after the lockdown and I didn’t get the chance I was waiting for, but the whole time I was there and didn’t play.”
“I do extra training and keep my fitness at the right times. So for me, it’s about working hard and staying dedicated and I’m getting back to basics. “
