In best conditions, Hazard claimed is on the same level as Messi
Fernando Morientes, the former Real Madrid player, seems enthusiastic about the presence of Eden Hazard in Zinedine Zidane’s squad. According to him, the Belgian player is at the same level as Messi when playing at his best.
As is known, Eden Hazard finally joined Real Madrid in the summer of 2019. In fact, these two parties have been linked to each other since several years earlier.
In order to realize this transfer, Real Madrid have spent around 100 million Euro. Last time Los Blancos spent that much money was when they signed Gareth Bale from Tottenham Hotspur in 2013.
Of course, this large pocket of money makes Real Madrid expect a lot of Belgian players. But unfortunately the former Lille player failed to show his best performance consistently.
Not surprisingly, Eden Hazard is often injured which requires him to miss quite a long time from the gridiron in his first season with Real Madrid. That situation automatically made him was not at its maximum level.
Fortunately, Real Madrid still managed to steal the Spanish La Liga championship trophy last season.
Now looking to the new season, Fernando Morientes believes that Hazard will bring good luck to Zinedine Zidane’s men. According to him, Real Madrid already has an extraordinary line of attack.
In fact, Hazard himself in his best form, is tantamount to watching a Lionel Messi play.
“The best Hazard, the best Rodrygo, [Marco] the best Asensio or the best Vinicius accompanied by the responsibility and experience of [Karim] Benzema is a great starting point,” he said as reported by Goal.
“This year’s signing was done last summer (Hazard) because he hasn’t exploded, but if he’s at his best level he’s level with Messi. The players from the academy could be important in the medium or long term too, “said Morientes.
Furthermore, Morientes praised Benzema for continuing to appear consistent in the midst of the crisis in Real Madrid’s attack line last season.
“He showed he was good enough to lead the line, because the players around him were not at their best,” said Morientes.
